We all know (well we hope you do!) that Bobbypins can help you look fabulous on the outside but you might be surprised to know that we can also help you feel an awful lot better on the inside too with our in-house Reiki practitioner.

What is Reiki?

So what is it?  If you’re like me the first time I heard someone say the word “Reiki” I thought they were about to tell me how to prepare my garden for seeding.  How wrong was I!

In fact the word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”.  So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy”.  

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation which also promotes healing.  Reiki has existed in many different forms for thousands of years but its popularity today is widely acknowledged as being due to the development in 1922 by Mikao Usui, who used Reiki as an alternative therapy for the treatment of physical, emotional, and mental diseases.

How will Reiki benefit me?

While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others and practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.

However, it doesn’t stop there.  Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.  It involves a combination of spiritual and energy healing sometimes utilising the healing powers of crystals.

Jean is available on a private bookings basis to offer you a full range of relaxation therapies starting at just £20 for a Reiki infused Indian head massage to full meditation practice and even spiritual readings.  All sessions are conducted after salon hours to ensure you have a complete, secluded experience in a quiet nurturing environment to help you achieve total relaxation.
